Coronavirus update
Editor's note: For the most up-to-date information about the University of Calgary's response to the spread of coronavirus, visit UCalgary's COVID-19 website.
The University of Calgary is closely monitoring a new health concern, the coronavirus (2019-nCoV) that first appeared in Wuhan, China. We have advised any of our students and faculty who are currently in mainland China not to travel if they become sick and to follow any recommendations from the Government of Canada or the local government.
UCalgary will continue to monitor the situation for any new updates or recommendations posted by the Public Health Agency of Canada and Alberta Health Services.
At this point, the World Health Organization (WHO) has not declared the coronavirus outbreak to be a public health emergency of international concern.
Additionally, travellers currently registered in our International Travel System as being in mainland China (Beijing) have been contacted by Risk Management to ensure that they are aware of coronavirus outbreak and the precautions they can take.
Risk Management staff will continue to monitor and liaise with staff identified as either going or coming from China to ensure they are provided with the most up to date health information concerning this virus.
