The Taylor Institute is the mechanism through which quality teaching and learning, experiential learning and initiatives like the institutional support of learning technologies can be realized. The Taylor Institute Unit Plan further lays that groundwork.
Together we are transforming how we teach and learn. 2018-19 was another year of substantial growth at the Taylor Institute. The development of the experiential learning team and a shift toward undergraduate research through the PURE program marked important progress as we move forward in achieving our key priorities.
2016/17 marked a year of growth and learning at the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning. We came to better understand the full potential of the Taylor Institute building and the impact that spaces can have on learning and student engagement.
The 2015/16 academic year was a historic one for us at the Taylor Institute for Teaching and Learning. Thanks to the generosity of the Taylor Family Foundation, we moved from the cozy fifth floor of the Biological Sciences building into our bright new building at the heart of campus.

The Postdoctoral Scholar Certificate in University Teaching & Learning is a flexible and comprehensive program that helps postdoctoral scholars develop reflective, evidence-based and theoretically-informed approaches to teaching and learning.
The Graduate Student Certificate in University Teaching & Learning is a flexible and comprehensive program that helps graduate students develop reflective, evidence-based, and theoretically-informed approaches to teaching and learning.
The University of Calgary Teaching Scholars program is designed to strengthen educational leadership across the University of Calgary. The pilot program provided up to $40,000 over three years (2016-2019) to support teaching and learning initiatives that addressed topics of shared interest within or across faculties.
The University of Calgary Teaching Scholars Program strengthens educational leadership and supports the implementation of strategic teaching and learning initiatives across departments and faculties. Teaching Scholars make a difference by sharing knowledge and research, creating social support networks, mentoring others, and influencing change both within and beyond the University of Calgary.
The purpose of this report is to provide an overview of the University of Calgary Teaching and Learning Grants Program for the period of 2014 to 2019. Funded by the Provost’s Office, these Teaching and Learning Grants are designed to enhance students’ learning experiences at the University of Calgary.
Since 2014, the University of Calgary Teaching Awards have recognized and celebrated outstanding contributions to teaching and learning. The awards recognize excellence in diverse learning contexts, by individuals and teams, and through curriculum design and educational leadership. The awards showcase the value of teaching and learning to our university and external communities, raise the profile of teaching excellence, and position recipients and nominees to be successful in national award competitions.
