Researchers at the University of Calgary have a new platform on which to share their failures and successes in the journey from research to implementation and public impact. The Office of the Vice-President (Research) launched [now innovating], a research-to-impact podcast, on Sept. 21. It's available for download on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Play, and online.
[now innovating] aims to encourage researchers, principal investigators, and other highly qualified personnel to take new steps toward transforming discoveries into solutions, products, and services. Co-hosts Dr. Pritma Chattha, DNP, and Jordan Witzel connect with researchers to provide direct and credible insight into the experiences of the innovation ecosystem, offering proof that pursuing innovation, new ventures, and non-traditional pathways to translation is valuable and worthwhile for researchers and highly qualified personnel.
The podcast is reflective of the cultural shift toward innovation and entrepreneurial thinking at the University of Calgary. Listeners can expect conversations that don’t dive deeply into the details of research but explore experiences of failure and perseverance as it relates to the research and innovation journey.
This short-format podcast will provide useful insights from experienced innovators, with the intent to spark inspiration to engage with the innovation ecosystem in a way they may not have previously considered. Witzel says they want to inform listeners of ways researchers are sharing their discoveries and connecting with others who can help them innovate, implement, and have impact.
