Kicking off on Nov. 15, Innovation Week YYC explores what it takes to be a global innovation hub right here in Calgary.
As the event’s presenting title sponsor, the University of Calgary is hosting numerous events both on campus and around the city throughout the nine-day event.
“Being a presenting sponsor for Innovation Week YYC is really a perfect partnership for us here at UCalgary with the large amount of entrepreneurial, innovative work being conducted,” says Amanda Affonso, BA’00, associate vice-president of alumni, community and partnerships.
“We look forward to seeing our community come together and participate in some of the events across campus to see what we are doing first-hand.”

The first event of the series features Jade Alberts, an entrepreneur and strategist and founder of Peer Guidance. He has had a successful career as a sales entrepreneur, which allowed him to understand growth, margin and profit. He now shares his knowledge with aspiring entrepreneurs as he believes a lack of capital should not get in the way of what one needs to succeed. He has exited a business and helped three others exit. Alberts is also an “angel investor” with more than 30 investments. The event features refreshments and discussion.
