Black People in Alberta 'have made trail-blazing impacts'
Black History Month was an opportunity to celebrate Canada’s rich history — a chance to learn about important Black Canadians and celebrate their contributions. Throughout February, the University of Calgary celebrated Black History Month with a series of stories and virtual events.
As Black History Month comes to an end, it's important to remember that it is our responsibility as members of the UCalgary community to continue the conversation around Black history.
Dr. Malinda Smith, PhD, is UCalgary's vice-provost (equity, diversity and inclusion), She provides us with some insights on how we can keep the conversation going and continue to support Black communities. We can all do our part to support UCalgary students, faculty, and community members.
