Moving Beyond Celebrating Diversity and Towards Anti-Racist Teaching


This session draws focus on moving past acknowledging diversity, towards developing and implementing anti-racist practices in post-secondary teaching and learning. This shift requires educators to reflect on their own positionality and its impact within the classroom, while also examining their pedagogical practice through an equitable lens. This presentation also discusses strategies to embed anti-racist practices within teaching, both at the individual and institutional levels.

Through this session, participants will:

  • Be able to differentiate between diversity in teaching and anti-racist teaching
  • Recognize the importance of critical self-reflection in developing equitable teaching practices
  • Learn about strategies for developing anti-racist practices within their classroom
