Learn about and stay abreast of SoTL's key issues and current discussions through the SoTL Journal Club for faculty and staff, the SoTL Series of mini-workshops, the SoTL Foundations Program for Graduate Students or Postdocs--or apply for Seeding SoTL funds to lay the groundwork for doing SoTL.
SoTL Journal Club
The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Journal club provides regular, informal gatherings for faculty and staff where, after reading a shared article or two, participants discuss the reading. Come occasionally or regularly or once. The readings will be posted a few weeks before each session in the links below.

The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Series is a collection of one-hour monthly sessions designed to provide current and prospective SoTL researchers resources and support throughout the life of their project. Beginning September 2017, each session highlights key stages, decisions, or concepts within the specific context of SoTL research. Winter 2018 sessions are:
- "Research and Writing Literature Reviews," January 23
- "Methodologies," February 7
- "Statistics," March 13
- "Qualitative Inquiry," April 4
Seeding SoTL Initiative
The Taylor Institute now offers a range of options to “seed SoTL” to support local communities focused on teaching and learning, and to distribute across campus the processes and the products of generating knowledge about teaching and learning. Opportunities include forming a book group, a teaching square, or a community of practice, or hosting an unconference. Small amounts of funding are available for each.
SoTL Foundations Program
This one-semester program is comprised of a series of discussion-based sessions focused on foundational SoTL readings and one workshop. Upon completion, participants in program will earn a SoTL Foundations badge and be prepared to support, collaborate on, and/or conduct SoTL projects (e.g., as co-applicants or RAs on University of Calgary Teaching and Learning Grants). Graduate students can learn more here, and postdocs, here.
