Hours of operation
Based on feedback from students, faculty, postdoctoral fellows and academic staff, the Taylor Institute's new hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. until 9 p.m., Monday to Friday. Academic courses and activities related to teaching and learning (such as workshops and exams) can now be scheduled in the evenings. Regular hours for Taylor Institute staff remain 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday. The Taylor Institute remains closed on Saturday and Sunday.
Academic courses and one-time academic activities that do not require catering
We have partnered with the registrar’s office to schedule academic courses, exams, continuing education and one-time academic activities that do not require catering in the Taylor Institute for fall 2019/winter 2020 and beyond. This will be a permanent change to optimize space utilization and ensure alignment with standardized course booking processes across campus. Please work with your faculty scheduling coordinator to book academic courses in the Taylor Institute. Using PeopleSoft, indicate which space you would like to use and provide a brief rationale in the “class comments” field detailing why your course should be taught in the Taylor Institute. This process replaces the previous Taylor Institute application form. The Taylor Institute will no longer book spaces for academic courses following the summer of 2019. For questions regarding bookings for academic courses or one-time academic events, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Non-academic events and academic activities that require catering or coordination
Conference and Events Management will work with the Taylor Institute to schedule space for any non-academic events and academic activities that require catering or coordination (such as conferences and guest speakers). Please note that academic courses and teaching and learning activities will be prioritized over one-time, non-academic events. Non-academic events cannot be booked in the Taylor Institute until academic courses have been scheduled for the semester. For more information about booking space for non-academic events or academic events that require catering and/or coordination, please contact email@example.com.
Taylor Institute workshops and signature events
The Taylor Institute will continue coordinating and booking space for the Annual University of Calgary Conference on Postsecondary Learning and Teaching, the Teaching Awards Celebration, Taylor Institute-led workshops, internal programming and other signature events. Please note that all second-floor spaces are used by Taylor Institute team members to facilitate these activities. For general inquiries related to Taylor Institute space bookings, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
